Darn Appendix's

Well by now if you haven't heard of our adventure on thursday night i will tell you all about it....It starts off with Russ being at Work and not feeling well, Now being the macho man that my husband likes to think that he is!! LOL He wrote it off as having cramps, and thought that it might help if he went to the washroom... That did not help the matter.. He continued to work all day through the pain and at the end of the day when he came home,, he was in excrutiating amounts of pain. Now I being the loving and caring wife that i am, I suggested that we go to a clinic and have it looked at. The Doctor at the clinic saw him and immediatly sent hm to the hospital..We arrived at Royal Columbian at 6 o'clock and waited and waited and waited and finally saw a doctor then it was determined that YES he did have appendicitis and that it did need to come out so there we were again waiting, this time for the surgeon. they came finally and did all the pre-op checks that they needed to do and they took his appendix out at 1:30 am on Friday morning.... What a fun start to the weekend!!!!! He was alright when i lefthim at 3:30 this morning, but i am heading up there to see him for around 10am.

I'm surprised that you had to wait so long at the hospital...appendicitis is very serious.

I didnt wait long to get into the emergency ward, maybe 20 minutes from arrival. Most of the waiting was all the tests they had to do to determine that it actually was appendicitus. I got a CT scan, wee. The nurses told me there was a swarm of people having their appendix taken out that night. I was the fifth or sixth, and the hospital was really busy. I actually got my surgery faster than I normally would have. I hadnt had any food since six that morning, and any water since two that afternoon. They want you to go twelve hours without either. What surprised me was that they let me eat solids the next morning. I assumed I would be on a liquid diet for at least a few days. I pissed of the other young guy in my room by having Jenn smuggle me in a whopper for dinner.
